New recharge plans Reliance Jio vs. Airtel vs. Vodafone Idea.
Country’s three major telecommunications operators, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio, have recently announced tariff increases for their prepaid customers. As a result of the announcement, Airtel and Vodafone Idea have already revised the recharging plans, while Reliance Jio will revise the plans from tomorrow, 6 December 2019.
The increase in most of the plans provided by the three telcos is between 15 and 47% on average. While Airtel increased its tariffs by up to 50%, Vodafone Idea also increased the price of the earlier tariffs by up to 42%. Reliance Jio announced a rate increase of up to 40 per cent, but also introduced a brand new plan to provide customers with 300 per cent more benefits in its latest ‘ All-in-One ‘ plans, according to the company’s statement.
The recharging and top-up plans provided by all three telecommunications operators come in more or less the same period of validity, i.e. on a monthly, three-month and annual basis.
Here is the breakdown of some of the major plans put forward by the three telecommunications operators.
Reliance Jio’s new ‘ All-in-One ‘ plans:
Rs.249 monthly plan: Unlimited calls, 2GB data per day and 2000 minutes for Jio to non-Jio calls with 28 days validity.
Rs. 349 monthly plan: Unlimited calls, 3GB data per day, unlimited Jio-Jio calls and 3,000 minutes for Jio to non-Jio calls with 28 days validity.
Rs. 599 three-month plan: Unlimited calls with 2GB data per day and 3,000 minutes of free calls from Jio to non-Jio users with a validity of 84 days.
Rs. 2,199 yearly plan: This plan comes with 1.5GB data per day, unlimited calls and 12,000 minutes for Jio-non Jio calls with 365 days validity.
In addition, there are a range of Jio Prime benefits provided to subscribers, such as 600 plus shows including more than 100 Jio TV HD channels, subscription to Norton’s Mobility Security Suite in Jio Security, access to free 5 GB cloud storage in Jio Cloud, and much more.
Airtel latest plans:
Rs. 248 monthly plan: For this plan, Airtel has included two plans of Rs. 169 and Rs. 199 in this plan. This new plan gives you unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, and 1.5 GB of data every day for 28 days.
Rs. 298 monthly plan: Raising the price of this plan from Rs. 249, this new plan offers unlimited calls, 100 SMS and 2 GB data per day, valid for 28 days.
Rs. 598 three-month plan: Unlimited calls with 1.5 GB of data and 100 SMS per day for 84 days.
Rs. 698 three-month plan: Unlimited calls with 2 GB of data and 100 SMS per day, with 84 days of validity.
Among Airtel’s annual packages, the most expensive plan sees a surge of Rs. 699. Yearly package of Rs. 1699 now costs Rs. 2398 with the same benefits. The new price will have the same benefits of unlimited calls with 1,5 GB of data and 100 SMS per day for 365 days.
In addition to the advantages of the package, you will also have access to Airtel XStream Premium content, Wynk Music streaming, free Hello Tunes and anti-virus mobile security.
Vodafone Idea latest plans:
Rs. 249 monthly plan: Free voice (FUP of 1000 minutes for off-net calls), 1.5 GB of data every day, 100 SMS per day, 28 days of validity.
Rs. 399 monthly plan: Unlimited voice (FUP of 1000 mins for off-net calls), 3 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/ day, 28 days validity
Rs. 379 three-month plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 6 GB data, 1000 SMS, 84 days validity
Rs. 599 three-month plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 1.5 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/day, 84 days validity. The same plan was offered by the telecom for Rs. 458 earlier.
Apart from this, there is also a recharge of Rs. 699 for a duration of 84 days applied to the prepaid recharge plans offering unlimited voice (FUP of 3000 minutes for off-net calls), 2 GB of data and 100 SMS.
Rs. 1,499 yearly plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 12000 mins for off-net calls), 24 GB data, 3600 SMS, 365 days validity. This plan has seen a significant rate hike of Rs. 500. This plan has seen a significant increase in the rate of Rs. 500. The same benefits were granted to prepaid customers at a much lower price of Rs. 999. Nevertheless, the Telecoms Ministry raised the data usage limit from 12 GB to 24 GB.
Earlier in the week, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel’s market capitalization increased by Rs. 12,300 crore after the two telecom majors finally raised their respective tariffs. However, after Jio’s tariff hikes, the weekly earnings dropped to around Rs. 5,600 crore.
